32nd Walk for Warmth with OLHSA and Genisys Credit Union
"Every year we Walk for Warmth to help local Oakland County residents stay safe, warm, and healthy in their homes,” said Susan Harding, OLHSA CEO. “Last year, many of the over 650 people that were assisted with walk donations were elderly and those living with disabilities. With this support, they were able to continue to thrive in their communities. Together, this year, we can all make a difference for those in need by supporting the Walk for Warmth."
This year’s Walk kicks-off at 9:30 a.m. and will feature the Genisys Band & Photobooth, superheroes and dinosaurs from Canterbury Village, DTE Game & Info Tent, Weatherization Demo Trailer from Bureau of Community Action, Oakland University Take Root Dance Troupe, food & job assistance info from MI! Works, Foundation for Behavioral Resources, the Judson Center, and more.
The event is made possible with support from: Consumers Energy, DTE, Richard Holmes, SEEL, and Canterbury Village. To register, visit: OLHSA Walk for Warmth
“Working in partnership with service agencies allows us to be part of an interconnected solution to create an environment for our community members who need the support,” said Jackie Buchanan, President & CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “I also want to recognize our employees, our members, friends and family for the dedication and enthusiasm they have for our annual fundraising campaign to support OLHSA. Their realization that service agencies play a vital role in our communities is what allows us to continue to make an impact.”
Each year, the Genisys team hosts a variety of fundraisers throughout the credit union’s Oakland County branches and their Corporate Office to raise funds to donate to Walk for Warmth. They will be accepting donations, which stay in Oakland County, until April 30,. OLHSA’s fundraising goal this year is $150,000.
Walk for Warmth is an annual community event that brings together individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations to help vulnerable households by raising funds to provide assistance for heating expenses during the winter months.
