METRO DETROIT INTERIOR DESIGNERS SET THE TABLE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON DURING MICHIGAN DESIGN CENTER’S “THE MODERN TABLE”
TROY, MICHIGAN (November 13, 2023) – Michigan Design Center’s “The Modern Table” event attracted more than 300 guests and collected 772 pounds of food and over $2,000 dollars for the event’s charity partner, Gleaners Community Food Bank. The food and monetary donations will help provide over 6,500 meals to feed hungry neighbors in Southeast Michigan.
Held on November 3, the one-day, open house event featured 34 designer-created tabletop displays, all with their own unique theme. Event-goers were invited to vote for their favorites in the People’s Choice Awards.
"Harvest by Holmes" in Beaver Tile and Stone (Suite 101) won the "Crowd Pleaser" award for overall favorite display. Designed by Penny Heideman & Candy Welch of Interiors By Holmes.
"A Season of Gratitude" in Decoroom won the "Design Inspiration" award, which is the tablescape guests would most like to re-create at home. Designed by Arthur White & Loretta Crenshaw of A & E Decor + Crenshaw & Associates.
“Some Enchanted Evening..." in The Ghiordes Knot (Suite 90) won the "One In A Million" award for most imaginative tablescape. Designed by Joel Baird of Baird Design Group.
MDC also held a live drawing to select the grand prize winner of their $25,000 Wish List Contest at Noon in MDC’s Mid-America Room (Suite 86) during the event. Allison Bracci from Rochester Hills was selected at random by MDC President, James Danto and MDC Executive Vice President & General Manager, Susan Todebush.
“Making the decision to purchase and renovate an entire home in today's climate has been a stressful undertaking,” says MDC’s $25,000 Wish List Grand Prize Winner, Allison Bracci. “Under the advice of my amazing designer, Marisa Huber, I decided to enter the "$25,000.00 Wish List Contest" which at first felt like a ‘pipe dream.’ Now, finding out that dream is a reality, has been life-changing. Being able to pick pieces from the fantastic showrooms at the Michigan Design Center that were not in my initial budget has felt so fantastic! I look forward to passing these pieces onto my daughters for their homes one day. Thank you to everyone at the Michigan Design Center for taking the time to create such a unique contest and for picking me- a contestant who will be forever grateful!”
