Join Chief Financial Credit Union at Leader Dogs for the Blind’s Dinner in the Dark
Join Chief Financial Credit Union and Leader Dog for the Blind on Friday, March 10 at MGM Grand Detroit for Leader Dog’s annual Dinner in the Dark.
This signature fundraising event offers guests a unique experience to dine completely blindfolded, giving a momentary understanding of what so many of Leader Dog’s client’s face on a daily basis.
While mingling, guests can have their picture taken with a Canine Ambassador on the “black carpet” entrance, try their luck at the Blind Wine Pull for $25, peruse the pop-up Leader Dog gift shop and try the Walk the Walk experience, an immersive orientation & mobility space where guests can walk with a white cane and participate in daily activity skills. A limited number of Blindfold Walks with a Leader Dog in training or canine ambassador are available with advance purchase.
Chief Financial Credit Union is a Lead Sponsor of Dinner in the Dark. Committed to inspiring creative philanthropy across all of the communities it serves, Chief Financial is the official credit union for Leader Dog for the Blind.
“It’s an honor to be a part of Leader Dog’s Dinner in the Dark event as it returns to an in-person experience this year,” said Ashley Chambers, Chief Financial Director of Business Development. “The organization is committed to serving individuals across the globe with visual impairments as they seek empowerment and autonomy. We hope people will take the opportunity to learn more and see how they can participate in this important work.”
Leader Dogs for the Blind provides free programs to empower people who are blind or visually impaired to travel independently using a guide dog or a white cane.
“Because we receive no government funding or insurance payments,” said Melissa Weisse, “we rely on the support of individuals, foundations and wonderful corporate partners like Chief Financial to continue our mission. Chief’s commitment to serving the communities where they do business is well known in the Rochester area.”
