Oakland Community College (OCC) and Oakland University (OU) are collaborating on a pilot program that will allow OCC students to enjoy the benefits of living on the University’s campus this fall.
The new campus housing program gives students a unique opportunity to learn more about one of OCC’s top transfer institutions firsthand by living in a safe, student-friendly environment.
“The opportunity for OCC students to live on campus at Oakland University is another example of the great partnerships we have that benefits our students,” said Dr. Kimberly Hurns, OCC’s Vice Chancellor for Student Services. “Oakland University’s proximity to our Auburn Hills campus will especially appeal to a number of our students who are looking for housing options close to where they go to class and attend OCC activities.”
Oakland University’s campus is a five-minute drive from OCC’s Auburn Hills campus. Accessibility is easy with Smart Bus options and free parking available on both campuses.
Robert King, Senior Director of Housing at Oakland University, said OCC students who live on OU’s campus will have access to all “OU Housing” extracurricular programming. In addition, students will have access to opportunities to seek additional experiences including university campus life; library and study group opportunities; and meals in student dining halls. Free amenities include wifi, laundry, fitness equipment and more.
OCC students who wish to participate in the program are encouraged
to fill out the Oakland University Housing Interest
Form and note options of interest. Placement is based on
availability.
“Once a form is submitted, we can provide information about the rates and different options that are available,” said King. “For example, right now we have a double rate and a single rate, and based on what they select as their preference, that’s what we would try to match them with in the fall.”
