April 21, 2022 –BHSH System (formerly Beaumont Health and Spectrum Health) is making a commitment in honor of Earth Day with an expanded focus on sustainability that is For Michigan By Michigan™.
To deliver on its
mission to improve health, instill humanity and inspire hope, BHSH System is
making a commitment to sustainability
goals across the state, supported by more than 64,000 team members
representing BHSH Beaumont Health, BHSH Spectrum Health Lakeland, BHSH
Spectrum Health West Michigan and Priority Health.
The ultimate goal is all
facilities owned by BHSH System will operate as carbon neutral by 2040.

By 2025, BHSH System’s sustainability targets are:
= Convert
70% of fleet vehicles to hybrid or electric power
= Recycle,
compost or reprocess 40% of waste
= Purchase
25% of food products from local, diverse, and sustainable sources
= Reduce
energy use by 15%
= Double its
spending at businesses owned by women and people of color
