X 2024 Whose Dream R You Paying For? Understand Real Estate

Whose Dream Are You Paying For? Let’s Understand Real Estate.

A Young Professionals Event

Let's face it. Real Estate nowadays can be a daunting topic. Between the shifts in the market and your own budget, how do you know when it's the right time to buy, sell, or invest in real estate?

The Troy Chamber Young Professionals are excited to have Allison Gorman, Owner of Gorman Real Estate Collective speak on this very topic, clearing the air and providing much needed insight. In her presentation, Allison will cover:

  • What costs are involved with closing, aside from the down payment, and what are some of the frustrations she sees with first time home buyers?
  • Are there tools online that can accurately calculate expected home purchasing expenses?
  • How to get out of a renting situation in order to buy a home?
  • Should a high-interest rate deter you from buying a home?
  • APR, escrow, taxes… how do these all play into your initial cost/monthly payments?
  • & more!

*for those 35 and younger only.

About the Presenter: Allison Gorman, Owner, Gorman Real Estate Collective

Many moons ago, I lived in NYC and had a career in the theater. But, when my Grandfather fell sick, I moved back home to Michigan to help care for him. After Gramps passed, I realized that I couldn’t bear to be far from my family. I’m the eldest of 4 sisters and I wanted to be available to them. I stumbled into a sales career through proprietary education and I LOVED IT! To talk with people about starting their career with nontraditional education? I’m in! Quickly, I rose the ranks in every school admissions department. I had all the titles: Director of Admissions, Corporate Director of Admissions, Campus President.

Life. Was. Good.

Then, my Mother had an AWFUL experience buying her dream lake home. That really got my wheels turning. Why wasn’t this realtor advocating for my Mom? Why wasn’t she going to bat for her, like I was with my students? This opened my mind to the possibility of Real Estate. Shortly after that experience, my Husband and I ended up at dinner with some friends. One friend talked about starting a side gig and making great money. “What was it?” I asked. The answer? Real Estate, of course. Now I knew that Real Estate was in the cards! If I could help people get started in new careers, I could surely help them with their home. I had to.
